"The War Tapes"

There was a great show on the Military Channel (an offshoot of the Discovery Channel) last night called "The War Tapes."

Per the Military Channel's website, here is a description:

"In March 2004, just as the insurgent movement strengthened, several members of one National Guard unit arrived in Iraq, carrying digital video cameras. The War Tapes is the film that they made."

This was an amazing television show because it didn't show bias, it didn't spout propaganda. It was just a portrayal of soldiers' lives in Iraq.

Maybe this hit home so hard with me because I spent a year in Iraq. Seeing everything looking so familiar. Being able to feel the heat. Being able to hear the daily prayers. Being able to taste the dust and the sand in the air. It just kind of resonated...

If you get the chance, I HIGHLY recommend you take a couple hours and watch this documentary. It's good stuff.

According to the Military Channell's website, there aren't any more showings scheduled, but I'm sure that will change and it will show up again on the Military Channel, Discovery, TLC, or the like.

PS - I don't want to turn this into a sales pitch, but those men and women of the military that need a good workout, check out tactical.workingclassfitness.com. I've got another couple tactical articles in the works...
