Hey Wiggy, this is an awesome article and I can see why it is so popular. It reminds me of when I was younger and I couldn't afford new mma training gear, so all my training equipment was raggidy, mismatching and ripped, and often times stuff I just built myself. There is a certain sense of confidence and self-satisfaction you get when your training poor, it reminds me of the feeling I get when I watch the Rocky montages.
